Alpha Sapphire crash

Issue: Citra will not load up Alpha Sapphire. I was playing just fine 2 days ago, but then yesterday, the game started crashing. The fps was stuck at 0% speed and 0 fps. Besides that, when it starts to load it crashes. The shaders start to load up and then crash.
Pokemon Ultra Sun doesn’t crash but Alpha does crash

Here’s some issues I found with your log that might help.

  • Due to AMD’s poorly optimized OpenGL driver, you may experience slowdowns.

Go to File>Open Citra Folder, then open up the shaders folder and delete the opengl folder found here. Then try your game again.

Didn’t work.
I tried that exact steps and the game still crashes.
Then AMD said they detected a driver time limit but i think i fixed that
but the game still crash

this is happening after citra update to 1783

Please double check whether the issue doesn’t occur in Nightly 1782: Release nightly-1782 · citra-emu/citra-nightly · GitHub

is which one am i supposed to download? and what am i supposed to do?

Download citra-windows-mingw-20220901-d380980.7z , then extract it using winrar or 7zip. Inside the extracted folder, launch citra-qt(.exe). Then try your game.

it works now! thank you!! from now on should i not update citra?

Perhaps for now. A big change to the graphics side of things happened in Nightly 1783 and we’re still working out the kinks. Hopefully we’ll be able to figure out what is causing this issue and fix it in the near future. But for now, I would advice not to update until that happens.

Hi, can you test the latest Citra Canary build? It should have some fixes in there that we think fixes the crashing issue.

the latest canary build doesn’t have the crashing issue. the game works
thank you!!
but with the citra nightly 1784 the game still crashes. only works with that canary version and the 1782 nightly
when will the next nightly update be released?

We use Canary to test the changes we make to the code. We just changed a part, so we’ll keep it in testing for a bit until we’re sure that there are no further problems with it. Then we’ll merge it into Nightly (our stable build). For this change, that should happen within a week or so.
