Android RAM usage

Hello. I’ve been doing some testing lately between yuzu and Skyline. Skyline uses 5% less RAM than yuzu. Any reason for that? Granted, games fully run and boot up through yuzu as opposed to Skyline( Skyline is riddled with graphical glitches and missing textures, etc) But these tests are based on initial loading of the games. I like to play my games, or at least attempt to play before they crash, on my TV via HDMI out and using Samsung Dex( I’m sure Dex uses a bit of memory, itself) on my phone. They almost always crash within a couple minutes because of the memory crashing. I’ll start playing. Everything seems fine. Then, as the game is caching textures, it prompts a memory crash and I get this “Loading” box pop up on the middle of the screen before it fully crashes. I’m using a Samsung S23+. A Nintendo Switch has half the memory my phone does.

Is there a way to communicate directly with devs or anyone involved with the development? Is this forum the only means of communicating issues? I’ve tried the yuzu pages in reddit to no avail. I’ve also tried using Discord but am new to that app and don’t know where to post things

In order for us to provide better support, we need to see the log generated by yuzu. This guide will walk you through how you can obtain the log file: Getting Log Files - yuzu

Your phone also runs all background apps/tasks and the full Android OS on top of having to emulate the 4GB of the Switch, part of its OS, and all the overhead of GPU/audio/input/etc emulation. If only 4GB were enough, you would just be using a Switch.

We’re working to reduce RAM use, native code execution and UMA are in development to help here, but they are still in progress.
