Could I ask you to test out some old builds? We’re thinking this may be a regression, so it would be good if we could confirm what change broke this.
Please test out Nightly 1899 first: Release nightly-1899 · citra-emu/citra-nightly · GitHub

I get the same issue on this build. if I disable hardware shader I can normally bypass the black screen but the game slows to a crawl.

same issue, on this build some of the textures are just black for some reason as well
Sorry, is this the same issue? I thought you said that you get a full black screen, not just some black textures. Does the black screen still occur?
it is the same issue sorry to confuse, I got the black screen a little after that screenshot. I’m normally able to play for a minute or two before the black screen comes. the black textures are just a secondary issue with that build.
On the latest Nightly build, go to the Debug settings and enable Debug Renderer, then launch your game and encounter your issue (this will be slow). Then upload a new log file.
Go to your Citra user folder and delete the shaders
folder found there. Then try your game again. If the same issue occurs, upload another log file.
deleting the shaders file seems to have worked! thanks so much for your time

nevermind lol
the game definitely ran for longer than it normally does, but it ended up having the same black screen issue after 20-30 minutes of play (the black screen would normally show up after a few seconds to 5 minutes)
