Black screen when starting a game, (plays sound)

You shouldn’t install Citra into Roaming(nightly-mingw / canary-mingw). Either you just have the default location(which will be appdata\Local) or you pick somewhere else that is not Roaming. For example I have my Citra on my E:\ drive.

Let just have Citra make its config folders in Roaming automatically.

Do you have any controllers connected to your computer?

nope, no controllers, and I have placed my Citra folder in Local again. I have removed all other components.

Do you have any antivirus software installed? For some people Citra doesn’t start because of that.

No antivirus software, I think I am using the windows 10 given one.

Yeah then I’m not sure what is going on. Try run cmd.exe or powershell as admin and type sfc /scannow to scan & repair system files.
If that doesn’t work I would probably do some spring cleaning and use the Windows 10’s built in “reset this PC” and reformat. Backup files first then only select that you want to clean where Windows is installed.

Hi, same issue here , and I found a workaround following.
My hardware is:
CPU: Intel i7 8700k
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2070
Monitor: Two monitor, one with DP to RTX 2070, another with HDMI to UHD 630.

Issue 1:
Citra-qt is running but when starting a game it displays black screen with sound.
The log file show an error:

[ 11.822198] Render.OpenGL video_core/renderer_opengl/renderer_opengl.cpp:DebugHandler:1151: API ERROR 1286: Error has been generated. GL error GL_INVALID_FRAMEBUFFER_OPERATION in (null): (ID: 4012793211) framebuffer 10, “” is not complete
[ 11.822201] Render.OpenGL video_core/renderer_opengl/renderer_opengl.cpp:DebugHandler:1151: API ERROR 1286: Error has been generated. GL error GL_INVALID_FRAMEBUFFER_OPERATION in (null): (ID: 173538523) Generic error

It’s said that’s because of overlay,
but i have no MSI Afterburner , not OBS , and disabled NVIDIA’s GeForce Experience In-Game Overlay , Xbox Gamebar , and Steam overlay, not luck for me.

Issue 2:
I try to update Intel’s graphic diver to the newest Windows 10 DCH Driver,
then Citra-qt won’t launch and only pop in task manager for a few seconds and disppear.

Workaround:
I found a workaround for me, after install the newest Windows 10 DCH Driver, the app list will show a new Intel Graphic Driver.
Uninstall it , and everything works fine!

But Windows will install a new driver automatically after reboot.
I’m trying to disable Intel’s driver updates from Windows Updates.

I don’t know if it’s issues of DCH Driver or the Nvidia’s diver.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your effort. I installed the newest Intel Graphics Driver, and as you have mentioned it keeps reinstalling for some reason. I already tried to disable driver update with Windows Update, but it doesn’t really seem to work. Also, after installing the newest driver, I do not have Intel Graphics Driver in the Apps & Features, image so I am guessing there is a problem with DCH driver? Not sure. Thanks for the effort though! I will try to find a way so that it stops reinstalling after every reboot. (It says I have the newest driver, but idk whats going on lol)

Since DCH driver 8187 Intel said this:

Starting with driver 27.20.100.8187, there will no longer be an Intel Graphics Driver entry in Add or Remove Programs as recommended by Microsoft. Additionally, Graphics and Audio drivers must be uninstalled separately and only from Device Manager, as shown in the screenshots below.
