Can't open in-game menu/settings on Android 13/One UI 5

Issue:
Can’t get the in-game menu bar (where you can disable overlay among other things) to appear in Citra official Android on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra on Android 13/One UI 5.

It works on Android 12/One UI 4.1.1 so it appears to be an OS issue.

However, I haven’t read any complaints from other Android 13 users, so they’re either staying silent or this is a One UI 5 issue. On Reddit, a user with a Note 21 that’s also on Android 13/One UI 5 has the same issue.

System Information

  • Operating System: One UI 5 (Samsung’s build of Android 13)
  • CPU: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
  • GPU: Adreno 730
  • Citra Version (found in title bar): bed6a4f12
  • Game: Mario Kart 7

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
I wonder if I may have discovered a bug.

This is also happening for me since updating to Android 13 on my S22 Ultra.

Trying to load saved data but can’t access the Citra menu anymore.

We’re aware of this issue. We hope to get a fix out to the Canary repo .apk soon.

Yeah same thing happened on my tab s7+ so hopefully it’s fixed here soon. Gets old having the gamepad overlay when I’m using a controller

Same problem here, is there any method we can use to fix it?

Any news?

Nothing yet?

Unfortunately not. The dev that was looking into the issue seems to have gotten busy with life. I’ve asked whether another dev is available to take a look, but I haven’t had any luck so far.

Was hoping to see if theres been any news yet

This issue should be fixed in the latest Nightly and Canary builds now. You can open up the menu using the Back button instead: Releases · citra-emu/citra-canary · GitHub

Thanks a lot! I tried it just now using the latest Canary build and I can confirm I’m able to open the menu using the Back button or Back gesture.

Can confirm canary 2423 fixed the issue for me as well. However it feels very buggy. Canary 2424 does not even launch on my phone just crashes.
I Am on samsung s22 ultra with latest android and one ui updates. Originally the google play store version of the citra app the in game menu was not working, now it works when pressing back button on canary 2423

Yea, that launching crashing issue should be fixed on the latest Canary now.
