Answered in Pokemon Ultra Sun Won't Launch - #63 by Ermaldo
Nope, should be a base game file.
Try out a portable Citra build to rule out any other common issues:
Go to Download Citra - Citra and select Manual download
. Then under Nightly Build, click on your operating systemâs icon to the right of the latest build available to download the build.
Extract it (.7z can be extracted using Winrar or 7zip) and put it wherever you wish. Inside the extracted nightly-mingw
folder, create a folder called user
. This Citra should now store all of its config, save files and such inside of this user
folder.
Check to make sure that this user
folder is in the same folder that contains citra-qt(.exe)
Now run the citra-qt executable found inside of the mingw
folder and run your game. If the same issue remains, upload a log file using this portable build.

Hereâs some issues I found with your log that might help.
- Due to AMDâs poorly optimized OpenGL driver, you may experience slowdowns.
- The ROM you are attempting to run is corrupted. Look here for instructions on how to properly dump ROMs from your 3DS. https://citra-emu.org/wiki/dumping-installed-titles/

Hmmm. Nothing else stands out. I would redump the game if I were you. Please refer to our game dumping guides:
Dumping Game Cartridges
Dumping Installed Titles
Make sure your GM9 is up to date and that you have enough free storage space available on your SD-Card to perform the dump.
First, go to Emulation>Configuration>General
and set the Region option back to auto-select. You donât have any reason to change this, so donât.
Then go to Emulation>Configuration>System
and set the CPU Clock Speed slider back to 100%. As the warning underneath this option clearly states, messing with this can cause freezing, like what youâre experiencing. So, please donât mess with this slider unless you know what youâre doing.
Your GPU driver is out of date. Please update to the latest available for your GPU: https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-ryzen-processors/amd-ryzen-3-mobile-processors-radeon-graphics/amd-ryzen-3-3250u

Pokemon x works fine but pokemon y doesnât allow me to enter route 3 from inside the forest
Disable your cheats, then restart the emulation (important, otherwise they remain active). Now try your game again.
No game was booted in your log. If you are experiencing a crash then do not open citra again until after you posted the log as it gets purged when you reopen citra.
