A few days ago after installing the update (which I hadn’t done in a long time), citra started giving me 2 problems:

Save states are not a replacement for in-game save files. Save state save the entirety of Citra’s emulation state, which mean that if you keep loading and saving upon save state loaded progress, Citra never gets to flush out any of the accumulated emulation bugs. Which in turn makes things very unstable. Additionally, save states tend to break with certain Citra updates. Therefore, their recommended use is only within single game sessions, not beyond them. You should use your in-game save files most of all to prevent the loss of progress.
As for how to recover the data, we’ll need to use an older Citra build:
Download citra-windows-mingw-20221119-3b6ffd9.7z from Release nightly-1813 · citra-emu/citra-nightly · GitHub
Extract it using winrar or 7zip, then launch the citra-qt(.exe) found inside of the extracted folder. Now load your game and load your save state. Save in-game after that. Now you can continue your playthrough on the latest Citra build(s) by loading your in-game save data.
