Issue:
Hopped onto Citra for the day, been playing Fire Emblem Fates for nearly 2 weeks straight (so addicting! lol) and finally finishing everything up moved onto Fire Emblem: Awakening. Before starting it up I got notified for a Citra update. I don’t know how related it was but FE: Awakening was noticeably laggy compared to other games I’ve ran on Citra before. After a while the game blatantly crashed and couldn’t be loaded again. I looked up how to fix it and the first solution was to go to:
Emulation → General → Reset All Settings
After this I tried to boot up the game and the situation got even worse, now my ROMs don’t even display and honestly I am at a loss where the folders even are.
I really don’t wanna lose weeks of progress. Is there a solution? Why won’t my old ROMs even load to begin with?
System Information
- Operating System: Windows 10 Home
- CPU: I am not tech savvy and pretty anxious about losing everything rn so some help would be appreciated if this is needed
- GPU:
- Citra Version (found in title bar): Citra Nightly 2007
- Game: Fire Emblem: Fates Special Edition, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Devil Survivor, and various others all MIA.
- Screenshot: Honestly, it’s just like my Citra is a blank slate and won’t load my old ROMs. I’ll attach a screenshot.

I’m poking around trying to fix it and this is the latest citra log I have. I found my original ROM folder but just so confused why nothing is loading.

I’m so stupid I kept immediately reopening Citra when the bot says not to. Sorry for spamming this thread. Here is the actual log now.

Here’s some issues I found with your log that might help.
- You have mods installed. This might cause weird behaviour or crashes. Please disable them and retest if your game is experiencing bugs or crashes.
Removed all traces of mods I could find like the bot suggests- but I don’t think this is relevant as ALL games are not functioning. But worth a try (still not booting up)

HOLY SHIT I FIXED IT, I SURFED THREADS AND FOUND THE SHADERS SOLUTION TO DELETE THE SHADERS FILE
but seriously Citra, you gave me a massive heart attack here, 4wersdfxchdgfyu5jy6rtf
why did this happen to begin with? either way indirectly thanks to the mods working hard to put up solutions across all threads!
took a bit of surfing but glad a solution existed.
Your ROMs “disappeared” because you reset the settings, which deletes the game folder location you had set before.
As for why deleting the shaders file was the solution, sometimes shaders can become corrupted. We recently updated our file checking in this regard, so this should be less common of a problem in the future
LOL, Yea sorry I am really not tech savvy- but I really appreciate all the info and tech support for Citra on the forms, it helps a lot! And thanks for explaining it too along with the updates- that’s good news! I really appreciate it.
