Citra crashes when I try to do anything

Issue:
Enter a description of your issue here, in full detail.

Citra crashes whenever I try to click anything. I can’t go any further than clicking the “Emulation” tab. If I click anything else in the “Emulation” tab, Citra crashes.

System Information

  • Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 5200U @ 2.20GHz
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 820M
  • Citra Version (found in title bar): Citra Canary 1423 (other versions don’t work either)
  • Game: Pokémon Ultra Sun (it also crashes when I go to anything else)
  • Screenshot of Issue (include the full Citra window including titlebar):

This is a GIF of the issue to show that the emulator crashes with everything.

This is a GIF showing that when I open a game (that worked fine yesterday) the game becomes a black screen and then the entire emulator crashes.

Here’s some issues I found with your log that might help.

  • Enabling Accurate Multiplication is recomended in certain games. If you are experiencing graphical glitches, try enabling this option.

I don’t think enabling accurate multiplication would work since I can’t even get to the configuration menu without Citra crashing.

This should be fixed in the next build. Translated Citra had an issue.

I just installed 1424 and the issue still occurs. @tywald

Okay, so I can now go into the configuration menu after the update to 1424, but I still can’t start up my Pokémon Ultra Sun game. What could I do? citra_log.txt (5.9 KB)

Core.Cheats <Warning> core/cheats/gateway_cheat.cpp:SetEnabled:424: Cheats enabled. This might lead to weird behaviour or crashes

Can you turn off cheats then restart the game? If it still crashes perhaps you need to redump the game using the guides:
https://citra-emu.org/wiki/dumping-game-cartridges
https://citra-emu.org/wiki/dumping-installed-titles
Make sure you have enough space on your SD card.

I can’t turn off the cheats since I can’t start the game. Does this mean I have to redump? I’m not sure if there’s enough space on my SD card left to redump. Do you perhaps know how I turn off the cheats manually without entering Citra? Also, if I redump my game, will my save file that I’ve created on Citra still be there?

Go to %appdata%\Citra\cheats and move the .txt files somewhere.

Yes your save will still be there.

This worked! Thank you. Am I still able to move the cheats file back or not?

Could I actually manually remove some cheats from the game? I think I know which cheat caused this now that I think of it.

You can add the cheats one by one, if it starts to crash then the last cheat you added caused it.

Okay, thank you. I deleted the “View EVs and IVs with start and select” cheat and the game functioned fine when I put the cheats file back in, so I believe it’s that cheat. Thank you once again for your patience and help
