Citra crashes when loading a game

Issue:
Ive been trying to use Citra to play Samus Returns but every time I try to load a cci or 3ds file (both being decrypted) it starts up the game, it shows the “Loading” title with the bar and then almost immediately crashes Citra in its entirety. I’ve tried everything I found online and still no progress.

The log file is incomplete. Make sure you follow the steps carefully:

  1. Open Citra, then go to File>Open Citra Folder and open up the log folder. Now keep that open in the background.
  2. Launch your game and encounter the problem; crash/slowdown/glitch and close citra if it doesn’t do so by itself. Do not restart citra as that will wipe the log of important information!
  3. Now upload the log file in this chat.

Here’s some issues I found with your log that might help.

  • Enabling Accurate Multiplication is recomended in certain games. If you are experiencing graphical glitches, try enabling this option.
  • LLE Audio is designed for debugging purposes. Using this option will slow down your game. Try changing to HLE audio.

I tried this, still encountering the issue.

Seems to be a driver issue. Please try reinstalling the latest drivers and make sure to do a clean installation: NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce Game Ready Driver WHQL

You may have to uninstall the latest driver you have installed to do this first, using something like DDU.

Here’s some issues I found with your log that might help.

  • You are running out of date drivers for your GPU. You need to install the most recent driver for your graphics card from NVIDIA’s website. Download Drivers | NVIDIA
  • You have cheats enabled. This might cause weird behaviour or crashes. Please disable them and retest if your game is experiencing bugs or crashes.

I installed the driver and yet no progress made.

Turn off the cheat codes. If you are unable to quickly pause the emulator as soon as you are starting the game so you can enter the cheats menu, you can go to File -> Open Citra Folder then delete the text file for the game in the cheats folder.

Are you referring to me? Because when I go to cheats its gray I cannot click it

You must start the game to access the cheats menu. You will need to pause emulation asap so you don’t crash. Try the second method I mentioned if you can’t use the menu.

The cheats folder is empty and I cannot pause at all.

@cheeto
So I’m guessing that this is the reason why people should create their own threads instead of asking on someones else’s thread. I don’t know if tywald is replying to you or not, but I just checked your log and you don’t seem to have cheats enabled.

Also, you usually add cheats manually, so unless you specifically know that you added cheats, chances are you never did and that is not the issue here. Did you try updating your driver like SleepingSnake suggested?

EDIT: Nevermind I just saw your reply about the driver. You have custom textures enabled, try turning that off.

Yeah I got confused myself, usually when you reply it will say on the right side of the post. I was supposed to reply to @ShockDragon
