Citra crashes when starting any game

Issue:
When loading any .3ds file, citra closes without any error message.
My gpu is updated and has opengl support for version 4.6.
I tried using another game picked at random, and had the same result.
I tried with both canary and nightly, updated to the latest version.

I used citra without problems some weeks ago with the same hardware configuration, but recently cleaned all data and reinstalled windows 10.
I can’t seem to make it work since then.

Delete your qt-config.ini file located on %appdata%/citra/config and try running citra as admin. if that fails backup all of your citra folder and set it up clean again.

Thanks for your answer.
I tried all of these, but had no positive result
To be clear, “but recently cleaned all data and reinstalled windows 10.” meant that I did a hard formating of all my drives.

It just sounds like something Citra uses isn’t up to date, Check for updates and update your drivers some might need to be done manually.

Every driver is updated to the latest stable version;
i also have every visual c++ redis installed

Try redumping your ROMs Dumping Installed Titles Dumping Game Cartridges .

I found a way to get it to work.
I downloaded the portable version, and, as long as I disable sending anonymous data (?), this one works.
I could confirm this way that the ROMs weren’t the problem here.
I tried disabling anonymous data collect on the installed version, but the original problem was still here.

It’s not a complete fix, but I don’t mind using this version, so I guess it will do.
Thanks for your help everyone

I think your original sdmc folder might be corrupted. iirc I had this too a long time ago when I used to lazily backup by slapping another letter at the end but that would cause issues like this.

You can look up the structure of sdmc here: https://citra-emu.org/wiki/user-directory/

A few months and quite a few updates later, I still encounter the same problem.
If I reset every folder of citra, and reinstall it, it works… But only once. If I close citra, then re-open it again, it will always crash when trying to start up any rom.

Portable version no longer works (and I can’t really understand why but ok).
