Dumping is when you extract data from your console. Like games, saves etc. MHGen only use extdata so you would use this guide to get your save from your 3DS to Citra:
If you only played on Citra but still got this message then did you use any cheats of any kind? Because I have over 1000h save file and never got this issue.
Though I can see you have been using save states, there might a similar problem like on PPSSPP if you load an old save state after you save in-game it would “desync” the save, causing you to not be able to save normally again until you load the save normally(i.e don’t load state). However I tested that and it still worked on Citra but I didn’t try with a very old state however.
np, sorry that you had to start over. Make backups every now and then and you shouldn’t get these issues in the future. Simply right click on the game in the list in Citra and pick open extra data location then zip the user folder.
