Citra Drops to 0 Fps

Issue:
Since last patch, when I start playing Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 Pro my fps drop a lot. I’ve experienced this since i can see an archive called 0000000000.app in the main menu of Citra.

Here’s some issues I found with your log that might help.

  • You are running out of date drivers for your GPU. You need to install the most recent driver for your graphics card from NVIDIA’s website. https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
  • Enabling Accurate Multiplication is recomended in certain games. If you are experiencing graphical glitches, try enabling this option.

There is a regression where this game suffers greatly since the core timing accuracy changes. You can try underclock to like 25% (in Citra config go to the System tab and drag the CPU slider to 25%). Or use an older build before this change happened e.g Nightly 1543: https://github.com/citra-emu/citra-nightly/releases/tag/nightly-1543

Do this btw to prevent a bug:

  1. Open Citra then go to File->Open Citra Folder
  2. Open shaders folder then delete the opengl folder if it is there.
  3. Emulation->Configure... then click on Graphics on the left
  4. Click on the Advanced tab and turn on Accurate Multiplication

The Disk Shader Cache currently has a bug when Accurate Multiplication is turned off causing it to load all shaders slowly from zero every time you start the game and makes the precompiled cache extrememly large + the RAM usage skyrockets until you crash.

I did all u told me and still get the fps Drops, now im downloading an even older version of citra ( 1481) to see if thats the problem.

When do you have these fps drops? I can confirm that underclocking helps on latest Citra or by using 1543 and set it back to 100% clock since I also have the game :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m not sure if you are talking about the veeeeery long loading time when you start the game for example and you get small freezes every few steps.

Hello, regarding DQMJ3, I also have a similar problem. I stumbled upon this forum by chance and it happens to be very recent! So I followed what you were saying and downloaded the 1543 version of citra. Unfortunately that didn’t totally solve my problems. Indeed it avoids crashing the images, but the game is still slow and runs at a speed of about 50% (about 20FPS). The game has difficulty to run in maps, cinematics. It happens that the game has a FPS/speed increase, but this is very brief, and it is never when it is useful. I’d like to know if there is a way to make the game’s speed rise to 100% consistently (For your information, I have a computer that can easily run GTA 5, so this is not a performance issue coming from my computer).

It worked, thank you!

Enable everything in the Advanced tab and the Disk Shader Cache. As long Accurate Multplication is turned on, Disk Shader Cache is fine.

Here’s some issues I found with your log that might help.

  • Due to AMD’s poorly optimized OpenGL driver, you may experience slowdowns.
  • Enabling Accurate Multiplication is recomended in certain games. If you are experiencing graphical glitches, try enabling this option.
  • LLE Audio is designed for debugging purposes. Using this option will slow down your game. Try changing to HLE audio.

Here’s some issues I found with your log that might help.

  • You are running out of date drivers for your GPU. You need to install the most recent driver for your graphics card from Intel’s website. Support for Intel® Graphics

^ This driver is out of date. To update, download win64_15.33.53.5161.zip from Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.33]

Then follow this guide to install it: https://www.howtogeek.com/343287/how-to-fix-the-driver-being-installed-is-not-validated-for-this-computer-on-intel-computers/

Furthermore, because your iGPU has driver bugs, you’ll need to use an older version of Citra in order to prevent random freezing and crashing from occurring until you upgrade your hardware:
Download citra-windows-mingw-20191214-ddb7ead.7z from Release nightly-1392: Merge pull request #5020 from jroweboy/dynamic-mf · citra-emu/citra-nightly · GitHub
Extract it using Winrar or 7zip. Put the extracted folder anywhere you want. Now run citra-qt.exe from the folder and run your game.

I’m also having a problem loading up DQMJ3P with the english patch on my Vbox (ubuntu)
The game starts as it should be, but after the intro it just stops with 0fps and crashes after about 10 seconds later.citra_log.txt (17.1 KB)
