Citra Emulator Always Stop Working

Issue:
Enter a description of your issue here, in full detail.
Before I update in new version of citra this error never occur. After updating, then play the same game for a few minutes, the error always occur. Even I changed the graphic option or re-installing and re-boot computer.
As I remember, I used 12xx version of Nightly citra before updating the new one.

Here’s some issues I found with your log that might help.

Build 10.18.10.4885

These drivers are outdated, you need to update.

Download win64_15.33.50.5129.zip from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29473/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-33-?product=65700
direct link: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/29473/a08/win64_15.33.50.5129.zip

then follow this guide to install it: https://www.howtogeek.com/343287/how-to-fix-the-driver-being-installed-is-not-validated-for-this-computer-on-intel-computers/

Still have same problem after updating driver. Well I downloaded the old version nightly 1285 and run perfectly.

The new driver for intel is version 5129

Old Version of citra citra_log 1285.txt (622.6 KB)
New Version of citra citra_log 1465.txt (144.3 KB)

I will use the old version for a while. I will wait until the new update of citra. If the problem is my graphics driver, I will use the old version… forever. lol.

Here’s some issues I found with your log that might help.

  • You are running out of date drivers for your GPU. You need to install the most recent driver for your graphics card from Intel’s website. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/80939/Graphics-Drivers
  • Enabling Accurate Multiplication is recomended in certain games. If you are experiencing graphical glitches, try enabling this option.

Do you think you can help me with this? I can tell you builds to test so we can find two that are next to each other where one is working and the other is not.

Since you said 1285 works that means the issue lies between 1465 and 1285 so knowing that try this one: https://github.com/citra-emu/citra-nightly/releases/tag/nightly-1375

This process should only take a few tries.

Citra version 1375 was work. Nothing happen after about an hour playing.

Ok, now it’s between 1465 and 1375. Next, try 1420: https://github.com/citra-emu/citra-nightly/releases/tag/nightly-1420

1420, it stopped working. Three times testing and all crashes.

Ok, now it’s between 1420 and 1375. Next, try 1397: https://github.com/citra-emu/citra-nightly/releases/tag/nightly-1397 We are getting closer

1397 stopped working only a few minutes.

Hi, sorry for the late answer.

Ok, now it’s between 1397 and 1375. Next, try 1386: https://github.com/citra-emu/citra-nightly/releases/tag/nightly-1386

Version 1386 ran smoothly.

Ok, now it’s between 1397 and 1386. Next, try 1391: https://github.com/citra-emu/citra-nightly/releases/tag/nightly-1391 We are really close now.

1391 works. Nothing happen.

Alright, I think I can see where the issue started. Try these two final builds:
https://github.com/citra-emu/citra-nightly/releases/tag/nightly-1393
https://github.com/citra-emu/citra-nightly/releases/tag/nightly-1392

I have heard split presentation thread is something older GPUs don’t like so we will see  I will need you test some settings if that is the case if you don’t mind.

ver. 1392 was good. It run well.
ver. 1393 stopped working.

Thanks so it was split presentation thread. Let’s see, I want you to do this to make sure the Disk Shader Cache bug won’t be happening:

  1. File->Open Citra Folder
  2. Open shaders folder then delete the opengl folder
  3. Emulation->Configure... then click on Graphics on the left
  4. Click on the Advanced tab and turn on Accurate Multiplication

The Disk Shader Cache currently has a bug when Accurate Multiplication is turned off causing it to load all shaders from zero every time you start the game and makes the precompiled cache extrememly large + the RAM usage skyrockets until you crash.

Now play on 1393 for awhile, keep Accurate Multiplication enabled. I read some posts that seems to fix a few of these crashes.

If that didn’t help try turn off vsync in the Advanced graphics options in Citra then test 1393 again(still have Accurate Multiplication enabled).

Citra version 1393
Accurate Multiplication is checked
Enable VSync is unchecked
opengl folder is deleted

First and second crashed. Third until seventh was good no crashes. I think we can ignore first and second, so it works.
