Issue:
Over the past week or more, whenever I try to open Citra, all I get is a mostly white screen with a few UI elements, and a “(Not Responding)” message in the titlebar. This is not after booting a game, just immediately after booting Citra itself. No matter how long I wait, it does not eventually unfreeze. The Citra log file is completely blank, so that provides no information.
Citra always worked consistently well for me before this, and I can’t think of any changes I’ve made to my PC that could have caused this new problem. I have tried at least 6 Citra updates as they’ve come out, and none have changed this. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Citra, which didn’t fix it either. My GPU drivers and OS are all up to date. What else can I try?
Thanks in advance for any help! I really appreciate it.

I can’t change my settings since I can’t get into a single menu within Citra.
I have updated to Citra Nightly 2005 and Citra Canary 2642, and am still experiencing this issue with both. Does anyone have a clue on how this can be fixed?
Please update to the latest Citra Nightly build. If the issue persists, try using the MSVC build from here: Release nightly-2015 · citra-emu/citra-nightly · GitHub
Go to File>Open Citra Folder
, then delete the shaders
folder found here. Now try your game again.
Update:
I wasn’t able to get Citra to work on my PC again. However, if anyone is experiencing the same problem as me, running Citra through the RetroArch program DOES work on my PC. So, to anyone else experiencing this freeze on startup, if updates or other potential solutions don’t work, I suggest you try running Citra via RetroArch.
Thanks for trying to help, everyone.
Can you try updating your integrated AMD GPU driver: https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-ryzen-processors/amd-ryzen-5-mobile-processors-radeon-vega-graphics/amd-ryzen-5-2
