Citra games save over each other?

Issue:
I’m currently playing two runs of pokemon sun, a normal playthrough and an extreme randomized playthrough. However, when I open my normal sun playthrough, it’s saved at the same state my randomized game is. Each game has a different name and I can’t play any game without one saving over the other. I’ve tried redownloading sun and using that fresh file for a normal run but it STILL has a load point taken from my randomized game. I’m not sure if this is a reoccurring issue but it’s really frustrating and I hope someone can help me solve this.

I recorded a youtube video so that it can help explain the issue more.

  • Citra Version (found in title bar): 1189
  • Game: Pokemon sun

In order for us to provide better support, we need to see the log generated by Citra. This guide will walk you through how you can obtain the log file: How to Upload the Log File.

Unfortunately we don’t support hacked roms or randomizers. Please dump your game from your Nintendo 3DS fresh and try in Citra.

Eloeri: we do support most rom hacks.

your randomized hack has the same title id as the original pokemon sun. this means that they both will write to the same save file. easiest way to solve this add the folder containing your games to your game list, then right click on game and do a “Open Save Location” which will take you to the file where your save is. Then you can copy it and back it up. I think for pokemon its called “main” so i would create a new save in randomizer, and then when i’m done, i’d rename the file to main_rando. Then create a new game in the original, and save, close the game, and then rename the main file main_orig. So now when you want to play randomizer, you can just rename main_rando to main, play the game, save, quit, then rename it back to main_rando when you finish.

Ah, gotcha. Thank you!

I’m sorry this is an old topic, but I can’t figure out how to do this. When I rename the “main” file it just renames for the other original play through too. If you got any other way of showing me how to do it, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
