Citra gives c++ errors when building on Linux Mint 18.3

I am trying to build Citra, since the installer won’t work for my version of Linux. When
I type in the make command, it shows the progress, and then stops with this:

c++: error: unrecognized command line option ‘-std=gnu++1z’
src/common/CMakeFiles/common.dir/build.make:101: recipe for target ‘src/common/CMakeFiles/common.dir/logging/backend.cpp.o’ failed
make[2]: *** [src/common/CMakeFiles/common.dir/logging/backend.cpp.o] Error 1
CMakeFiles/Makefile2:977: recipe for target ‘src/common/CMakeFiles/common.dir/all’ failed
make[1]: *** [src/common/CMakeFiles/common.dir/all] Error 2
Makefile:140: recipe for target ‘all’ failed
make: *** [all] Error 2

OS: Linux Mint Cinnamon 18.3
CPU: Intel Core i7 6700hq
GPU: Geforce GTX 970M
Citra: Latest version through git clone --recursive as of 8/4/2018
Game: None

Didn’t generate one, I was building it.

In order for us to provide better support, we need to see the log generated by Citra. This guide will walk you through how you can obtain the log file: How to Upload the Log File.

Late, but this likely means that your compiler doesn’t support C++ 17, which Citra uses.
