Citra Speed Issues

Got myself this new laptop some weeks ago and I’ve decided giving a try to some Pokemon games on Citra. I’ve only tried Omega Ruby so far but the gameperformance is pretty bad, even though I have better specs than a friend who runs the game at around 30 FPS. I can’t go higher than 12 FPS except for menus where it runs very smoothly. Could you tell me what I’m missing based on my specs?

System Information

  • Operating System: Windows 10 Pro
  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-7300HQ
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 4GB
  • Citra Version (found in title bar): Citra Canary I HEAD- d72e3ca
  • Game: Pokemon Omega Ruby

Citra is currently in very early stages of development. Games usually run less than full-speed even on the best computers. Expect bugs and glitches to appear in most games. Many features for a more stable emulation are still in the works. For any major updates, please visit our Homepage.

Citra requires powerful single-core performance. Refer to your CPU in this graph. Your experience with Citra won’t be enjoyable in most games if it’s below 1,800.

My CPU is over 1,800 in that graph. What else can I do to increase the performance?

close everything except city I had same issue on Mac got 2 fps after quitting everything except city I easily get 22 fps

@GeorgeCristea I think there is no proper way to prevent this. You may have to close background processes to speed up, but it’ll definitely slow down if any other game or emulator is running. Also, speed hack with Cheat Engine doesn’t work.
