Issue:
Basically, when playing Pokemon Omega Ruby, sometimes I will use save states to reload if I mess up my chain fishing. I haven’t had a problem before until today, after I updated it, wherein after loading the state the game would suddenly lose audio and, about a minute later (sometimes less), it freezes entirely.
On this log I’m sending, I recreated the issue in the Pokemon Center after loading the game.
Notes:
I always use the ingame save function whenever possible and it is how I load up my data. I never use save states in the place of proper saving.
The save state in question was to save before using my fishing rod in case I flubbed my timing while chain fishing. Once I am done chain fishing, I delete the savestate so I don’t accidentally overwrite my saves.
The issue was not present in 2003, only 2004 and 2005.
The problem happens as follows:
Boot up game, load up save from the menu as one would when playing on console.
Do whatever it is I decide to do, in this case, go chain fishing.
Make a savestate before I use fishing rod.
Use fishing rod. if successful, I continue as usual and make a new save state before using the fishing rod again.
If this failed, I would reload the savestate so I could keep my chain going. This is where things went wrong in this version of Citra, and the issue mentioned at the start would present itself. The game was fine if I reset the ROM

I’m having this issue now but with Tomodachi Life, I decided to cheat the catching minigame with a savestate and then I had this issue. I hadn’t saved and my mii had just had a baby, so I’m pretty upset at the loss of progress, still trying to find a solution though.
I’v saved in-game the entire time. I only use save states if I’m chain fishing for shinies, so it’s not like I havent been loading my normal saves. It’s not really why the issue is happening, as far as I know, since I always save normally in-game. I also usually delete old save states once I’m done chain fishing or whatever it was I was using it for…
I tried loading on an earlier version but got an unregistered class error.
I only downgraded to 2000 from 2005, guess I’ll try everything between 2000 and 2005.
That’s the version that’s having the audio and freezing issue though. I tried it on 2004 and it loaded but had the same issues, 2003 just crashed, and 2000-2002 gave me an unregistered class error.
Just to add info, but I had this problem exactly after updating to the Nightly build 2004 in SMT IV. I thought that maybe my save states were corrupted but nop, when I created new ones it happened again, so I had to downgrade to the 2003 build and now it works.
Seems to be what works for me in the end as well. I wiped the save states and tested again on 2005 and 2004 and it would just have the musicless to freeze problem anyways, but 2003 seems to have working save states still. I guess I’ll wait 'till its all sorted before I update my install again

Updating for posterity and to have eyes on this issue: Nightly 2006 still has the problem, it was the first thing I checked. If this is a problem for you, keep using 2003 at this time!
