Citra will not open even though it was downloaded

Issue:
For context, the model of my computer is a Macbook air 13 inch 2017 with an i5 core.
I have attempted to open Citra multiple times and I have gone to the desktop icon titled citra-setup-mac.dmg to open the file titled citra-setup-mac, a page comes up with the message “‘citra-setup-mac’ cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.” and that macOS cannot verify that the application is free rom malware. This is preventing me from opening Citra, and have looked through many tutorials not finding out how to do it. If I could get any help to solve this problem, it would be much appreciated.

This is a MacOS specific issue for unverified apps like Citra. Just a simple googling will get you the instructions on how to solve it:

Regardless, Citra’s installer currently does not have MacOS modules as support has been dropped while work on the graphics backend is underway. You’ll need to use an older Citra build for now. Last working build for macOS users:
