Crash when booting up Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Issue:
Tried booting up MH4u, it closes moments after selecting and showing a black screen, I’ve tried using both OpenGL and Vulkan, disabling cheats (3D off, turn off bloom, 30 FPS), disabling custom textures and nothing is working
I also forwarded the log to the Citra desktop support chat in discord, and was told that its showing an unknown/unimplemented function error.

Here’s some issues I found with your log that might help.

  • Please enable the Vsync option if you are experiencing screen tearing.
  • You have cheats enabled. This might cause weird behaviour or crashes. Please disable them and retest if your game is experiencing bugs or crashes.

Disable both your cheat codes and your custom textures. Then, if you still encounter the issue, upload a new log file.

still the same issue

Hmmm, right click on your game in Citra’s game list, then select Open Update Data Location. Copy the files here to somewhere safe, then delete everything in that folder. Now try your game again.

Try setting your region to auto, as that can sometimes cause unmapping errors.

New log with region set for auto.
Pretty sure it was set to auto by default, last time I reinstalled.

Let’s try a portable build:

Go to Download Citra - Citra and select Manual download. Then under Nightly Build, click on your operating system’s icon to the right of the latest build available to download the build.
Extract it (.7z can be extracted using Winrar or 7zip) and put it wherever you wish. Inside the extracted nightly-mingw folder, create a folder called user. This Citra should now store all of its config, save files and such inside of this user folder.
Check to make sure that this user folder is in the same folder that contains citra-qt(.exe)
Now run the citra-qt executable found inside of the mingw folder and run your game.

If the issue persists, upload a log file using this portable build.
