Does the AMD Radeon 680M (RDNA 2 Architecture) not support all Vulkan extensions? - Crashing in Some Games

Hello,

I’ve read around a bit and noticed that some older GPUs do not support all Vulkan extensions, which causes some games to crash or fail to start when using Vulkan in Yuzu.

I am using a GPD Win 4 with a Radeon 680m which is supposed to support Vulkan 1.3 (equal to the latest 7xxx series GPUs from AMD).
In Breath of the Wild, it runs vulkan just fine, but in Arceus it crashes immediately after the Game Freak logo.
This is after clearing all shader cache, and updating to the latest AMD driver 23.4.1 WHQL that released 24 hours ago.

The second-newest AMD driver (release about 2 weeks ago stated it added these vulkan extensions)

Are AMD drivers still just too behind the times to support Vulkan fully?

Thanks for any help

In order for us to provide better support, we need to see the log generated by yuzu. This guide will walk you through how you can obtain the log file: Getting Log Files - yuzu

This started happening with 23.3.2 and newer drivers. For now revert to 23.3.1.
AMD confirmed the issue and is working on a fix.

Yep, you were spot on. the 23.3.1 drivers fixed it.
I’ve always noticed AMD drivers have this constant progression and regression. I guess Nvidia has it to some extent too, but AMD has always seemed worse about.

Just curious where did you find this exact information so I can stay up to date on it in the future?

And thank you

Just got reports from users once the driver came out, then reported to AMD in their Vanguard program.
