Dragon Quest VIII crashes Citra within minutes everytime

Hi everyone, lately I am having issues while playing Dragon Quest VIII on Citra. The game will freeze within minutes after booting, every single time. Most often, the freeze is preceded by the audio suddenly stopping. About ten seconds later, the game will freeze entirely and a manual shutdown of the emulator is required. Though sometimes audio and video freeze at the same time. The freezes seem to happen at random points in the game, e.g. during battles, during cutscenes and while in towns. This happens both with OpenGL and Vulkan. I have attached logs for both API’s.

Does anyone have any idea what could be the cause of the issue? Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I would like to let you know that the issue seems to be fixed. I started Googling some of the last log entries (specifically something about ‘Cubeb Audio Stream Stopped’) and found a Reddit post by someone who encountered similar log entries and crashes while playing Samus Returns. A user named ElQuitro replied with this fix:

‘Disable New 3DS mode, and of the 3 options in the bottom section of graphic settings, check the first and third options. Leave the middle one unchecked and disable bilinear filter. You’re welcome.’

That seems to have done the trick for me as well. So if this ElQuitro guy is around here, kindly pass my thanks to him/her.
