Entire computer freeze when trying to use multiplayer

Issue:
So, I tried to use a room for multiplayer on Animal Crossing new leaf, but when i started the local search for a City to visit, THE ENTIRE COMPUTER freezed, and after 3 minutes of waiting, i had to shut it off with the power button
