Experiencing Extreme Slowdowns in Alpha Sapphire

Lately I have been experiencing extreme slowdowns while playing Pokemon Alpha Sapphire. While previously I would get performance dips to about 50% speed periodically while playing, it now is booting at about 1-3 FPS, with highs at about 5 FPS.

I attempted changing around some of the graphical settings to fix some of the problems, but doubt I did anything to make it any better, and I fear may have just made it worse.

This question may have been answered, but I am also wanting the bots to look at my log and see if there are any glaring problems.

Here’s some issues I found with your log that might help.

  • Please enable the Vsync option if you are experiencing screen tearing.
  • LLE Audio is designed for debugging purposes. Using this option will slow down your game. Try changing to HLE audio.

GPU Driver Version: 23.20.16.4973

This driver is outdated, you need to update.

Download this driver: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/28289/a08/win64_25.20.100.6373.zip then follow this guide to install it: https://www.howtogeek.com/343287/how-to-fix-the-driver-being-installed-is-not-validated-for-this-computer-on-intel-computers/

After you have installed 6373, download and install igfx_win10_100.9126.exe from: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/30100/Intel-Graphics-Windows-10-DCH-Drivers
direct link: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/30100/a08/igfx_win10_100.9126.exe

Enable Hardware Shader and Disk Shader Cache in the Advanced graphics settings in Citra configuration.

Go to the Audio tab and pick HLE. LLE is for debugging and not for regular use.

I have the same problem. I have a MacBook Air (latest 2018). Pokemon Sun is really slow (runs with the 65%of speed) and Alpha Sapphire crashes every 2/3 seconds.

When I start the game I can’t see anything. It’s all black, as you can see in the screenshot that I have sent. I can hear the audio but I don’t see anything

  • The CPU Clock percentage is not 100%. You may experience unexpected game speed.
  • You have cheats enabled. This might cause weird behaviour or crashes. Please disable them and retest if your game is experiencing bugs or crashes.

I have the same problem with other games too

Try resizing the Citra window.
If that doesn’t work, please try disabling Hardware Shaders in Citra>Preferences>Graphics>Advanced Tab.

ok good. I resized the window and now it works. Thank you

I have another problem: The game crashes/ slows down often and the speed is about 65%

it really slows down a lot especially if I switch to full screen mode

I don’t think there is much you can do, the Y chips (e.g your i5-8210Y) are very low power.
