Failed Loading my Save States (Again)

Issue?:
Not really an Issue, but just kinda pain in the butt with after update and after another update, my save state(s) from build 18xx just become obsolete and Citra just straight out crashed. Before build 1820(ish), saving and loading the save states was never an issue for me.

At least, can you give us a little warning with each update? This going to save you (player and mod/helper in this forum?) a lot of precious time.

Your current Save State(s) is not going to work if you perform this Update. Proceed with Caution.

Or something along those lines.

Sorry. Have a nice day.

System Information

  • Operating System: Windows 11 21H2 Build 22000.778
  • CPU: Intel Celeron N4000
  • GPU: Intel UHD 600
  • Citra Version: Nightly 1849

In order for us to provide better support, we need to see the log generated by citra. This guide will walk you through how you can obtain the log file: How to Upload the Log File

It’s not possible to know beforehand. I do hope you default to saving in-game often as they are reliable saves and carry over between Citra versions. You can create new states after loading your in-game save.

Save states are not replacements for regular in-game saves, they are fine to use if you want to manipulate RNG etc. but not as substitutes to save progress with as they are unreliable.

If your in-game save is very far behind your state then you will need to download an older version and load the state there then save in-game. You can find older versions here:

Simply extract it somewhere and open its citra-qt in its extracted folder.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
