Games crash when launching

Issue:
Ever since updating to Nightly 1885, I’ve been unable to launch games. Citra unpacks the shaders, hangs on a black screen for several seconds, then crashes

System Information

  • Operating System: Windows 10
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Eight-Core Processor 3.70 GHz
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 580
  • Citra Version (found in title bar): Nightly 1885
  • Game: Pokémon X, Omega Ruby, and Ultra Moon

The log file is incomplete. Make sure you follow the steps carefully:

  1. Open Citra, then go to File>Open Citra Folder (Citra>Open Citra Folder if on MacOS) and open up the log folder. Now keep that open in the background.
  2. Launch your game and encounter the problem; crash/slowdown/glitch and close Citra if it doesn’t do so by itself. Do not restart Citra as that will wipe the log of important information!
  3. Now upload the log file in this chat.

I’m having an identical issue with my games, it could be fixed when running the Software shader instead of OpenGL, but would cause the game to run at unplayable low framerate.

We believe we have a fix for the issue. Could I ask you to help with testing?

If so, you’ll need to log into a Github account, then go to this page: gl_rasterizer: Fix texel buffer size overflow by vitor-k · Pull Request #6458 · citra-emu/citra · GitHub

On the right, there’ll be an Artifacts 4 tab. Click on that to expose the download options.
Download the linux-mingw build. Extract it using winrar or 7zip and run citra-qt(.exe). Now try your game again and let us know whether it solves the issue for you or not.

Working on the download
(it may be a bit my internet is terrible)

Works perfectly so far, thanks for your help!

Thanks for testing! I’ll pass it along

Working great for me too!

The fix should be in the newest Nightly already. Go ahead and update when able

as asked

Disable all cheats, then restart the emulation (Important, otherwise the cheats remain active). Now try your game again. If the issue persists, upload a new log file.

I can’t play Pokemon Omega Ruby. Ever since updating, it crashes upon opening. I’ve been able to play it in 60 fps before but for some reason after I updated Citra a year ago, it stopped working ever since.

GL_VERSION: 4.3.0 - Build 21.20.16.4550
^ This driver is out of date. To update, download win64_25.20.100.6373.zip from Legacy Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10
Mirror download: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/28289/a08/win64_25.20.100.6373.zip

Then follow this guide to install it: https://www.howtogeek.com/343287/how-to-fix-the-driver-being-installed-is-not-validated-for-this-computer-on-intel-computers/

Now you should be able to install the latest DCH drivers directly:
Download and install gfx_win_101.2115.exe from Intel® 6th-10th Gen Processor Graphics - Windows
Mirror download: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/764512/gfx_win_101.2115.exe

I already tried that before. No updates on my drivers apparently.
