Games just won't load after updating

Issue:

A couple weeks ago everything was working fine and ever since I updated it straight up doesn’t work anymore.

System Information

  • Operating System: Mac OS 11.5.2
  • CPU: 2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7
  • GPU: AMD Radeon Pro 5300M 4 GB
    Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB
  • Citra Version (found in title bar): Citra Nightly
  • Game: Dragon Quest VII
  • Screenshot of Issue (include the full Citra window including titlebar):

(there’s nothing to take a screenshot of because the game never loads)

The log file is incomplete. Make sure you follow the steps carefully:

  1. Open Citra, then go to File>Open Citra Folder (Citra>Open Citra Folder if on MacOS) and open up the log folder. Now keep that open in the background.
  2. Launch your game and encounter the problem; crash/slowdown/glitch and close Citra if it doesn’t do so by itself. Do not restart Citra as that will wipe the log of important information!
  3. Now upload the log file in this chat.

Disable the Disk Shader Cache in Citra>Preferences>Graphics>Advanced Tab.
