Help with transfering saves

I recently started making backups of my 3ds games but my saves from my 3ds are not being read by the emulator. I have opened up the location and dropped them there but they don’t seem to work. I tried renaming them things like main, main.sav but nothing works. I could be obtuse here but any help is greatly appreciated.

System Information

  • Operating System: Windows 10
  • CPU: Intel i5
  • GPU: 1050ti
  • Citra Version (found in title bar): 1757
  • Game: Fire emblem fates and persona q

There’s a couple things to keep in mind whilst doing this:

  1. Make sure you’re using Checkpoint for this.
  2. Don’t use FTP to transfer the save files to your PC, physically transfer the files from your SD-Card. FTP has been known to corrupt these files.
  3. Some games have extradata save data as well and won’t work properly without it. Make sure you dump that in Checkpoint as well and put the dumped data in the correct folder (Right click on the game and select “Open Extra Data Location”).
