Henriko's Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D HD Texture Pack (v1.4.2 2022-04-01)

Hello! This is my HD texture pack page for Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D! :grinning:

Psst! I also have a HD texture pack for Zelda Majora’s Mask 3D, Zelda: Twilight Princess, Zelda: Skyward Sword, Wii Sports, Luigi’s Mansion, Super Mario 3D Land, Pikmin 1 & 2 and Super Mario Sunshine!

Some general info regarding this texture pack which you should read before you download it;

  • There are ~6000 unique textures in the game ( I have tried to dump every single one, however I may have missed a few ). Out of these textures a few hundred have been completely re-textured or upscaled to look substantially better than the original. Other textures have been left untouched until I’ve worked on them. The textures that I’ve upscaled have been so using waifu2x-caffe, letsenhance.io using these instructions by Bighead. Some filtered textures have been modified or changed entirely to look better as well. In many cases, filtered textures look worse than the original textures so that’s why I’ve decided to leave many of them untouched until a later point.

  • It is very important to me that the texture pack stays faithful to the original vision. This means that I try my hardest to make new textures look like higher resolution versions of the original textures, and not like brand new textures or out-of-place mashups.

  • I am completely up for suggestions, changes and submissions. You will of course be fully credited for any work you submit. These are still very early days and there is much work left to do.

  • In-game text has not been upscaled yet because of the strange way Ocarina of Time handles text printing. If you want smooth text, enable the xBRZ freescale filter in the Citra Graphics Settings and set it to “3” or higher (if your computer can handle it!).

  • The pack is scaled to 8x the default resolution , this means that ( if the internal resolution is increased in Citra ) you may be able to view some textures at a staggering 3200x1920 resolution! A lower resolution version (4x) is also available for weaker computers.

  • This texture pack is for Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D only. There are no plans to port it to the N64 version.

  • This texture pack will work with any custom mods / hacks of Ocarina of Time 3D as long as they don’t add new textures or change old ones (in that case, conflicting textures will be overwritten by one another but it will still work).

  • This texture does not include material maps since Citra does not support this feature yet.

  • It works with all versions of the game, including the PAL/JAP/KOR versions of the game.

  • The total file size of the texture pack is roughly 6GB for the 4K version, and 1.7GB for the 1080p version.

  • Post-Processing works if you install ReShade into Citra and follow the instructions provided in the installation folder for Zelda OOT3DHD (update 1.1.0 onwards) and grants access to some great graphical enchancements like Ambient Occlusion, Depth of Field, Bloom, Tonemapping and more!

All future changelogs will be posted on my website instead of this post, to make it easier to maintain.

1.3.2 (2021-07-16):

  • 4K user interface is nearing completion, having been made completely from scratch! Misc. menus are being completed one at a time.
  • 20+ updated textures in Hyrule Field
  • Misc. new 4K textures including clouds, trees, grass, vines etc.
  • Gerudo Valley makeover has begun- still early W.I.P
  • 4K area texts!
  • HD sun flares, initial save game screen etc.
  • Simplified 60 FPS: Just hold ‘R’ on your controller to temporarily disable 60 FPS before and during segments of the game that are difficult / impossible due to 60 FPS quirks.
  • Many bugs and glitches have been fixed!
  • Minor changes and improvements all over!

1.3.1 (2021-05-16):

  • Over 80 new textures, coving both environment, UI, characters and more!
  • Further improved 4K user interface. Buttons, icons, text and menus have been partially or completely remade from scratch! More of the interface will get completed in subsequent updates.
  • HD maps!
  • 4K flowers and foliage
  • Lake Hylia revamp (oversaw the whole area again, remade textures and added new ones)
  • Kakariko Village revamp (Signs, brick walls, pillars, roof tiles etc. remade from scratch)
  • New sand textures in the Gerudo and Wasteland areas
  • Misc. HD rocks, Vines etc.
  • Improved 60 FPS support
  • Updated title screen to display the correct version.
  • Minor changes and bug fixes.

1.3.0 (2021-02-16):

  • New 4K User Interface, all menus are being completely redone from scratch in native 4K!
  • Kokiri Forest overhaul, more than dousen completely remade textures
  • 4K Signs
  • HD Eye Textures for over 30 NPCs
  • Enhanced Shield Reflections
  • New Tree Bark Textures
  • Fixed “Stretched” Triforce on the Hylian Shield
  • Improved Link textures
  • 60 FPS support! (Beta)

1.2.1 (2020-11-24):

  • Multi-Language support! This includes German, French and Spanish.
  • Selecting your game region is now way easier and less confusing than before;

All you need to do now, if you’re using the European version of Ocarina of Time 3D , click the " Run this if you’re using the PAL (European) version of the game.bat " file inside the texture pack folder. Done! It’ll now work great with your version of the game. Easy, right?

  • New terrain textures in Hyrule Field, and new textures in Kakariko Village!

This includes walls, ground textures, buildings and more!

  • MXAO has been fixed thanks to help from GRECCO#0720 on Discord, thank you!

This means you can now experience glorious self shadowing around objects, which looks really great with OOT’s fantasy art style. Try it out by doing the following:

Set your game view to “Single” in Citra.

Set your resolution to 9x in the Graphics Settings in Citra.

Press the “HOME” button on your keyboard, this will bring up the ReShade UI.

Check the “MXAO” box in the list of effects.

Go to the “Advanced” tab in ReShade and check the box next to the depth buffer in the list with the highest value (it should be a very high number while all others are 0).


This update also includes minor improvements to the visuals (including shader tweaks) as well as many bug fixes .

1.2.0 (2020-10-15):

  • Time time around I’ve focused on covering areas that previously had not been worked on at all. This includes;

    • Ice Cavern
    • The Bottom of the Well
    • Parts of some dungeons
    • Secrets areas in holes, etc.
  • Added the ability to control the bottom touch screen using a gamepad or a controller!

  • Added HD maps and minimaps

  • Much simplified installation process with preset settings!

1.0.6 (2020-02-25):

  • Fixed the infamous rainbow / colored dots bug that plagued a majority of the textures from last update!
  • Likely fixed all texture corruption bugs by transferring the alpha bitmap from the original dumped textures over to the HD textures. Needs proper testing, please report to me if the jumbled textures/corrupted textures bug still occurs!
  • Minor fixes and changes
  • Added alternate PS4 button layot optional download to fit the 3DS button layout instead of the PS4 controller layout by tvloidw!


  • There is now an optional PS4 Buttons Patch available thanks to the hard work by the users Spyro Chris and Elizabeth Pant. Thank you! :hearts:
  • Minor bug fixes and changes.

  • Fixed the “corrupted texture” bug for most textures, including the Master Sword Holster, the Water Temple and the Fire Temple, Zora King and more. If you find more textures with the corruption bug, please report to me on Discord.
  • Link’s face on the game-select screen is no longer glitched after the game is completed.
  • Gorons now have a higher resolution texture sheet (W.I.P)
  • Improved texture quality and sharpness on many of the textures.
  • Improved skin textures for multiple NPCs.

  • 28 new HD textures have been added, a majority of them are dungeon related!

  • Added a READ_ME file with installation instructions

  • Fixed an issue where certain textures only displayed a black texture

Note: All comparison shots have been taken with the exact same settings in Citra with internal resolution set to 7x and Linear Filtering enabled.

Installation guide:

The installation is now extremely simple. Just download the texture pack and extract the folder somewhere on your PC, then open the Citra emulator using “Zelda OOT3D 4K.exe” and start the game (using your own dumped rom, it is NOT included with the texture pack). Enjoy!

I’m thinking about doing it for Majora’s Mask as well since a lot of the textures are very similar to each other. It will take time though, so don’t expect anything that soon.

How does this differ from just changing the internal resolution in Citra options?

The difference between changing the internal resolution in the enhancements section of Citra and installing a HD texture pack is that when the texture pack is installed, texture resolution is increased rather than just the rendered output. This means that individual textures look way less pixelated and more detailed. If you only increase internal resolution the textures themselves don’t actually change. This is especially noticable in HUD elements and large textures. You can think about it like this; if you increase internal resolution the game file size doesn’t change. No files are being altered or replaced and nothing really happens with the game itself. Now, if you install a custom high resolution texture pack then you actually replace files in the game with other higher resolution ones, which also increases the game’s total size - since more data is being added.

Another way to look at it is to compare it with old PC games. Try playing an old game like DOOM on a modern machine and the graphics will be very outdated, even though you can technically play the game in 1080p on a computer today. There are mods and texture packs to update the the graphics for older games, this is one of them!

Yes, the colors of the gossip statue are mixed up as well as treasure chests for me.

Yes, the chests and the gossip statues are messed up for some reason, I am looking into why this may be. It seems to be an issue with transparency.

Hi, I downloaded version 1.0.3 and the Sheika stones and treasure chests are fixed now. Thanks for that. I have noticed that the tentacles inside Jabu Jabu have broken textures as well as the Zora King. Also, for some strange reason the icons for the inventory items are now invisible.

The icons become visible if you go into Citra settings and enable “Accurate Multiplication”. Please send me a screenshot of the bugged tentacles if you can. I’ll look into it asap! :slight_smile:
