How do you use wild encounter modifier gameshark code in Pokemon Ultra Moon

There are several codes out there that seem to be variations of each other. Im using pokemon UM 1.0 and every code I find after changing the hex number for any pokemon what shows up is is a shiny bulbasaur and the text reads “A wild popleo appeared” and it wont let me catch it.
