How to move saved data game from one pc to another

#1

I moved my game and citra’s files to one Pc to another (with the same operating system) using an USB key but on the new pc I have to restart the game from 0.
When I pit the usb key in the old pc my game data are there, so why it doesn’t work on the new one?

In order for us to provide better support, we need to see the log generated by Citra. This guide will walk you through how you can obtain the log file: How to Upload the Log File.

your save files reside on folders on C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Citra
more specifically at:

\Citra\sdmc\Nintendo 3DS\00000000000000000000000000000000\00000000000000000000000000000000\title\00040000

some additional save content goes to:
Citra\sdmc\Nintendo 3DS\00000000000000000000000000000000\00000000000000000000000000000000\extdata\00000000

you can easily find any game save folder by right clicking on the game list and selecting ‘Open Save Data Location’.

If you want to make it easy, stop at the folder named Citra and copy it and paste it on your other computer. This will take all of your game saves, shared font, and system files.

@HELPME
as mentioned before most save files are either on:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Citra\sdmc\Nintendo 3DS\00000000000000000000000000000000\00000000000000000000000000000000\title\00040000
or:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Citra\sdmc\Nintendo 3DS\00000000000000000000000000000000\00000000000000000000000000000000\extdata\00000000

each folder inside these two folders is a game save folder. when you right click on a game on citra’s game list and either ‘Open Save Data Location’ or ‘Open Extra Data Location’ look at your folder destination, for pokemon ultra sun, for instance:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Citra\sdmc\Nintendo 3DS\00000000000000000000000000000000\00000000000000000000000000000000\title\00040000\001b5000\data\00000001

the 001b5000 folder is the entire save folder for this game. by knowing this information you can now know which folder you have to copy for a specific save game.

Ok thanks but do i put the main file on my usb for my laptop?

#11

what ‘main’ file are you referring to? you only need to copy the save folder.

#12

or the whole folder?

#13

When you go into 001b5000, there’s a main save file i think. By the way i’m trying to transfer my ultra sun.

#14

copy the 001b5000 folder. for usum i think only the main file is really used but other games have more files with different folder structures, so its better to copy the folder.

#15

ok Thanks! I’ll tell you later if it works

#16

Hi there, I copied the folder and trying to play it. It doesn’t work, which file should i load? I’ll try send you a screenshot.

#17

is the folder structure like this 00040000\001b5000\data\00000001\main ?

#18

Yes, what should i do?

#19

not sure. say for instance you download a save game from the internet, for usum that would probably be just a main file, copying this file to the mentioned save data location should work.
however, you can avoid problems by simple copying the save folder and paste into the 00040000 folder.

When i do it says that the save file is too big. What should I do?
