In order for us to provide better support, we need to see the log generated by Citra. This guide will walk you through how you can obtain the log file: How to Upload the Log File.
Create a .txt file and name it with the game id (as seen on the cheats tab) and put your cheats inside of it. paste the file on C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Citra\cheats.
Make sure that Citra is NOT running when you create and edit the file.
Also the format should be something like:
[Cheat description]
cheat codes
Notice that the description has to be between square brackets, but the codes themselves not.
I’m giving you an example from my cheat file for Pokemon Sun:
[Wild pokemon - Walk into grass while pressing Select]
D3000000 00000000
005957E0 E1D500B0
005957E4 E12FFF1E
005957E8 E5C40004
005957EC E59F0000
005957F0 E12FFF1E
005957F4 00000097
005957F8 00000028
003988DC EB07F3BF
003988EC EB07F3BB
00398908 EB07F3B4
DD000000 00000004
005957E4 E59F000C
D0000000 00000000
If you don’t know the ID number for the game you want to make a cheat file, start Citra, load the game you want to cheat on, and then open the “Cheats” option. The game ID will be there. Write it down, close Citra (Important!), and then create the cheat file in the cheats folder.
I have create a .txt file in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Citra\cheats with my Title ID.
Then i have put this:
[Rematch trainer, hold L and talk]
D3000000 00000000
0049D200 E5911004
0049D204 E5900044
DD000000 00000200
0049D200 E3A00000
0049D204 E12FFF1E
D0000000 00000000
Then i start Citra and start Pokemon Sun. In game I go to Emulation/Cheats. I can see the cheat, that i created with the name ‘Rematch trainer, hold L and talk’. I do a checkmark on it and then close. I go to an NPC to rematch, but nothing happens
The description says clearly that you need to press the L key, and then talk to said trainer with the L key pressed. If you don’t do that, the cheat will not work.
It could also be a matter of the cheat not working. Using a cheat in Citra right now is not guaranteed to work for all the cheats and in all the configurations.
In any case, it seems that the Citra part is working OK, as you can see the cheat, and enable it. Discussing a particular cheat in a particular game might be better done in a different thread.
I know this is kind of old, but I’ve been looking around on the support pages and following all of the instructions I’ve seen but it still won’t work for me. I’m on windows, I have Citra Nightly version 1169. I made the text file, named it with the title ID shown in the cheat window, put it in the right place, and nothing. When I go there it’s still all blank, what do I do?
Launch a game and open the cheats tab, take a screenshot, also tells us the whole folder path of where the .txt cheats files are. also post your cheats file with its name.
Everything is in its proper place, you’ve probably downloaded from the same place but close citra and download your cheat .txt file again and replace the one on your cheats folder. also try running citra as admin. also upload your log.
I think I may have found the problem! For some reason when I sent the .txt file to the place in C:, it put a shortcut to it instead of just putting it straight in there. I’ll fix that problem and I’ll edit this to say if it worked or not.
Edit: It did! Have no idea why it sent a shortcut instead of just putting it there. Sorry for wasting any time. Have a good day!
