Issues when playing pokemon y

Issue:
Whenever I try to play Pokemon y on Citra it never loads the graphics and just plays the audio. If I can get the graphics to loads the game plays insanely slow (rarely 100% speed, usually around 10% speed and 2fps)

There is a bug on macOS where you need to resize the window or toggle fullscreen. Try that and see if it gets fixed.

Ok, now going into full screen the graphics work but the speed pretty much maxes out at 50% and 20fps with some small bursts to higher speeds

iirc the intro is CPU intensive, you can try underclock Citra (drag the CPU slider in System tab below 100%). Though for actually playing it should be set to 100%.

So what should I look for in a CPU in order to make Pokemon playable?

Do you have this slow speed while actually playing (moving around)?

If you are looking into building a new computer you want fast single thread performance. A cheap option today is the Ryzen 3 3300X as the CPU, pair with a good B550 board (coming June 16).

Yea, the speed doesn’t improve much while playing. I’m not really trying to build a computer more so just looking for insight on what to buy

I see, yeah you are at a disadvantage since you use a Mac which typically has less performance.

Any computer you can recommend?

Are you looking for a laptop or desktop?

I’m looking for a laptop

Or even if someone could recommend what specs to look for in a CPU that would be great

Well the new Ryzen 4000 series are pretty juicy, though you want one combined with Nvidia GPU.

They are based on Zen 2 architecture so they have good single thread performance.
