Lag / low frame waves when running games

I have only used Citra for a little while now, but I am having trouble getting my games to run on a smooth, consistent frame-rate. The games I have tried are “Paper Mario: Sticker Star”, “Super Mario 3D Land” and “Kirby Triple Deluxe”. Both Paper Mario and Kirby jump between 60 and around 10-20, and this seems to happen about every 10-15 seconds. Paper Mario: Sticker Star also seems to be unable to run higher than around 15 FPS, running mostly at around 10. I’m not sure if this is an issue with the games, Citra or my laptop.

The log file is incomplete. Make sure you follow the steps carefully:

  1. Open Citra, then go to File>Open Citra Folder and open up the log folder. Now keep that open in the background.
  2. Launch your game and encounter the problem; crash/slowdown/glitch and close citra if it doesn’t do so by itself. Do not restart citra as that will wipe the log of important information!
  3. Now upload the log file in this chat.

Here’s some issues I found with your log that might help.

  • The CPU Clock percentage is not 100%. You may experience unexpected game speed.

apparently they all want to run smoothly now. previously when i used 100% clock percentage,
it would still run at extremely low fps.
