Mario & Luigi: Dream Team freezes in 0-100% speed and 0 fps after loading save state

Issue:
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team freezes in 0 to


100% speed and 0 fps after I load save state, the audio still plays but the video and input is frozen. The actual save file is further back on the save state. How can I fix this?
