Monster Hunter XX freezes after intro

Enter a description of your issue here, in full detail.
Monster Hunter XX freezes after intro. The .3ds file has been redumped and patched with the 1.4.0 english patch. The only mod/cheat is the 60 fps one. Yesterday evening the game worked fine. I already tried to redump the .3ds and repatched it.

Nothing’s popping out at me. Please try to use a portable build and run only the base game in there (without the update):

Go to Download Citra - Citra and select Manual download. Then under Nightly Build, click on your operating system’s icon to the right of the latest build available to download the build.
Extract it (.7z can be extracted using Winrar or 7zip) (.tar.gz can be extracted natively on MacOS) and put it where ever you wish. Inside the extracted mingw folder, create a folder called user. This Citra should now store all of its config, save files and such inside of this user folder.
Check to make sure that this user folder is in the same folder that contains citra-qt(.exe)
Now run the citra-qt executable found inside of the mingw folder and run your game.

Thanks, I’ll try immediately

It did not work. The game froze very quickly, does not have the english patch (which I installed before launching it) and does not have the save file. Also, the game does not recognizie the controller
I want to add that the game runs fine on the 860 build, though I don’t have the possibility to install the 60 fps cheat and the resolution looks pretty bad when I try to upscale it.
I added the log.

I also tried again without the update and the game freezes just after the charachter creation, at the first loading screen.

Considering the above, this is sounding like either a a botched GPU driver, or a bad dump. What method did you use to dump your game?

I had a old dumped version of mhxx from my cfw 3ds, tried that one and did not work. My 3ds died, but I still had both both the undumped and the dumped version of mhxx. I redumped the game with this: https://gbatemp.net/download/batch-cia-3ds-decryptor.35098/.
And the driver was recently updated

About the driver, I just downloaded from the nvidia site the newest one I could find for my gpu. Still nothing

Well, you can’t have an undumped version if it’s not on your 3DS. I’m assuming you mean encrypted.
In any case, you probably used the old braindump method. That would explain why it runs on older Citra versions and not on current Citra versions. The current dumping method, using Godmode9, is a lot more accurate than the older dumping method. Our builds broke compatibility with the braindump dumps a long time ago. So that is likely why this has happened. I’m afraid there isn’t much I can do about this. Your file is simply incompatible with later Citra versions.

You would need to buy another 3DS or ask someone else to lend you theirs to redump your game using GM9:
Dumping Game Cartridges
Dumping Installed Titles
I recommend looking around on the second hand market for a 2DS. Those usually go for pretty cheap.

I see. Thanks anyway. The weird thing is that yesterday evening everything worked fine, but this morning not. Really can’t understand why.

Like I said, your dump is inaccurate. That doesn’t mean it can’t run at all, it means that it’s highly unstable. So sometimes it may run, other times it may not. Add to that that the decryptor program you linked in responsible for a lot of grief in the support channels about games behaving strangely as well. Even if the original dump was accurate. So there might be more than one factor here.

Ah, I understand. By any chance, do you know any decryptor program that is less problematic?

Godmode9. Which you need a 3DS for. Sorry, the one you linked is the “most reliable” one as well as the “least reliable” one as it’s the only one that “works”.
