Often slow down, sometimes halt

→ Since about a week ago, I started to encounter slowing down issue so often.
When following things are happened, It starts to slow down rapidly and sometimes It ends up freezing.
① When I do a quick-save(Ctrl+C)
② Animated cutscene (It seemed that it is called FMV) is played in game
③ When whole game footage is switched (E.G. turning on map menu)
In addition, emulation speed doesn’t go above 140% even if I regulate it much faster (It had been increased above about 200% before)
The only game I playing is “Inazuma Eleven Go Shine (Japanese version)”.
As far as I can remember, It was after updating from 1713 to 1716 that these are occurred.

2 days ago, I couldn’t bear to endure, so I decided to search myself for solutions to these issues and applied them.
① Turned off V-sync on Citra
② Turned on Tripple buffering and V-sync for citra-qt on NVIDIA control panel - Manage 3D settings - Program settings
③ Regulated CPU clock rate to 25% on Citra (but because I thought it does not contribute to resolving problem, I restored to 100% soon)
④ Turned off accurate multiplication on Citra
⑤ Gave citra-qt a high priority on Windows task manager - Details (but I realized this is one-shot solution)
It had worked for only a few minutes.
I hope there is an answer which can contribute to solving this bad stuff.

Any particular reason you turned Dump Textures on during normal play? Your log file is basically filled to the brim with messages about how Citra needs to continuously dump your game’s textures whilst playing. Ofcourse that’s going to affect performance and stability quite badly.

You should disable Dump Textures in Emulation>Configuration>Graphics → This option is only useful for those that are interested in creating their own custom textures.
You may also want to delete all the textures it’s dumped so far: Go to File>Open Citra Folder, then open up the dump folder and delete the textures folder found here (this will delete all dumped textures for all of your games).

If you’re still having issues afterwards, please upload another log file.

Oh, that was the problem… It is no less than 1.05GB…
Indeed, I had executed “video dump” menu to extract video files from the game rom and I have considered the dumped texture files as a part of those things 'til now lol
Okay, now my citra has regained speed, framerate, and anything.
Thanks a million. I owed you a lot.

Excuse me sir, but I have more question.
Does ‘current available capacity of hard-drive(or SSD) in which citra is installed’ affect the emulation speed of Citra?
What I mean is, my C drive now remains only 15GB, whereas there is 139GB more available in my D drive, and my Citra on D drive seems to be slightly faster than C one.
Is it a coincidence?

Unless the drive is dangerously full (would show up as “red” when viewing the drive in Windows), there’s no measureable performance difference in terms of drive capacity. Using Citra on a drive with way higher read and write speeds like and SSD vs a HDD yield next to no performance difference either. So it shouldn’t matter.
Though, if the drive you’ve installed Citra to is at high utilization (running multiple programs from the same drive on a relatively slow drive/transfering large files to and from the same drive), you might experience slowdowns purely because of that.

Appreciate. That’s what it is that I have wanted to know.

I am having a problem playing a link between worlds 3DS game. The audio is choppy and the video is very slow. I am reading 19FPS and speed is 9%.

  • Due to AMD’s poorly optimized OpenGL driver, you may experience slowdowns.
