Paper Mario Sticker Star Crash Issue

Issue:
In World 2-5 “Drybake Stadium”, the game crashes as soon as you go down the first warp pipe you encounter on floor 3. Has anyone else encountered this, and if so is there a workaround for it? Enclosed is a screen shot of the specific area I mentioned.

As you can see, there are a few errors being displayed, but the game runs fine all the way up until that warp pipe, and then as soon as I go down the pipe, the transition screen as normal goes black and then the crash takes place. Perhaps crashing when trying to load the next section after the pipe?

I see you are using an overlay with Citra. Can you test without it? Would be helpful to include your save (as close to the pipe as possible) and instructions on how to reproduce the crash.

Hello, sorry for the delay in response. Family issues. Here is the link to my save file. You will want to go to world 2-5 which is “Drybake Stadium”, and work your way up to the third level. This is the faq I used for solving the 2 door puzzles needed to get to the elevators and anything else. Just scroll down that page for the section that says 2-5 Drybake Stadium.

Once you get to the part in the FAQ that says “Head back around the corner and enter the pipe you see.”, that is the exact location in the photo I uploaded.

Below is the link to my save file.

My resolution was 2X Native, and the crash occured on both nightly and canary builds of the emulator. But Paper Mario Sticker Star was listed as playable from start to finish on the official compatibility page. So I’m wondering what might be wrong. All drivers on my Pc are up to date as well.

Thank you for your attention on this, maybe it might be a help to the team!

Just want to confirm if this happens without the overlay. I doubt it would but just want to make sure.

@Leo121 The “overlay” warning is from system archives and is common for everyone (due to how our system archives work) so I think it is irrelavent.

Failed to reproduce. I used your save and the game to go into that pipe but nothing wrong happened.

Could you try if turning off CPU JIT would change anything?

Greetings, an update on my pipe situation. I have now passed the pipe and all is well. It only happened after I updated to the new latest GPU build. Also because of this new release everything is running at full speed. Before when I peel stickers off the wall, the game would slow down. Now no slow down at all. So the overlay wasn’t the problem, and maybe Citra didn’t get along well with my overclocked I7-7700k on CPU JIT. Who really knows? But all is now working well, and I want to thank you folks for assisting me, along with a huge thanks to the Citra team for yet another breakthrough release! Thank you!!
