Pokémon Alpha Saphire crashes on start

Issue:
Immediately upon clicking on the game, Citra generates an error window title “Fatal Error”, followed by the message "A fatal error occurred. Check the log for details. Continuing emulation may result in crashes and bugs. Clicking on Continue proceeds to a black screen and nothing else happens.

System Information

  • Operating System: Windows 10
  • CPU: Ryzen 5 2400G
  • GPU: RX 560
  • Citra Version (found in title bar): Citra Nightly 1796 (though issue started on several versions ago and still persists)
  • Game: Pokémon Alpha Sapphire (Japan) (En, Ja, Fr, De, Es, It, Ko) (Rev 2) Decrypted.3ds
