Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Crash/Freeze

I’m currently playing Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. After a few minutes of playing, it always crashes or freezes. My progress is not always saved, which is a nuisance. I closed it and ran, but nothing changed.

Here’s some issues I found with your log that might help.

  • The CPU Clock percentage is not 100%. You may experience unexpected game speed.

Core_CPUClockPercentage: 200
^ Go to Emulation>Configuration>System and set your CPU Clock Speed slider back to 100%. As the warning underneath this option tells you, messing with this can lead to freezing. In general, you shouldn’t mess with this slider unless you know what you’re doing.

My Citra won´t start my pokemon alpha Sapphire every time i try to run the game my citra is crashing or saying citra doesn´t respond.

The log file is incomplete. Make sure you follow the steps carefully:

  1. Open Citra, then go to File>Open Citra Folder (Citra>Open Citra Folder if on MacOS) and open up the log folder. Now keep that open in the background.
  2. Launch your game and encounter the problem; crash/slowdown/glitch and close Citra if it doesn’t do so by itself. Do not restart Citra as that will wipe the log of important information!
  3. Now upload the log file in this chat.

Let’s try clearing the shader cache:
Go to File>Open Citra Folder, then open up the shaders folder. Delete the opengl folder found here. Now try your game again. If the same issue persists, upload another log file.
