Pokemon Crystal virtual console not saving?

While trying out virtual console on citra i found a weird occurrence, i wanted to play both pokemon yellow and crystal however while playing crystal the game either never saves or when it does save it only loads the save before the overwrite and the only way i found to fix this is to save then click on the bottom screen then reset from there, and when i try resetting through citra itself it doesn’t work at all even though they are both resetting the game, pokemon yellow on the other hand works perfectly fine saving wise so idk why pokemon crystal doesn’t want to save properly. Could someone please help me figure out a work around to this because I don’t want to be resetting everytime I want to save my game, also so very sorry for the long message i just needed to explain the situation in full.
