im not necessarily sure why but they said i had to go to a different website to update my driver
Did you get the “locked to manufacturer” message?
In that case you will need to manually install 6373 first in order to run the latest installer. It’s a common issue with OEMs (Dell, Lenovo, Acer, HP etc.) locking drivers.
Download: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/28289/a08/win64_25.20.100.6373.zip

Then you can run the previous installer.
