Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon Crashing PC

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon crashes Nvidia Opengl drivers after about 30 minutes of gameplay. I tried updating Citra to latest build, I tried a new ROM, and I tried updating GPU driver to the latest version. I tried playing with different video option setups in Citra itself, but always ends up crashing either the emulator or my entire computer.

System Information

  • Operating System: Windows 10 Pro
  • CPU: Intel Core I-9 10-900k
  • GPU: Nvidia MSI Geforce RTX 3080 Ventus 3X OC
  • Citra Version (found in title bar): Citra Nightly 1717
  • Game: Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon

There is no screenshot because Citra crashed. Here is log instead.

The log file is incomplete. Make sure you follow the steps carefully:

  1. Open Citra, then go to File>Open Citra Folder (Citra>Open Citra Folder if on MacOS) and open up the log folder. Now keep that open in the background.
  2. Launch your game and encounter the problem; crash/slowdown/glitch and close Citra if it doesn’t do so by itself. Do not restart Citra as that will wipe the log of important information!
  3. Now upload the log file in this chat.

It happened again. Still could not get a screenshot because Citra crashed. Here is the log, this time it’s a LOT more complete. I had to sift through the millions of
HW.GPU video_core/command_processor.cpp:WriteUniformFloatReg:84: Invalid vertex shader float uniform index 127” that it had recorded to get to the juicy stuff…

To me, the log file is suggesting that there might be something wrong with your ROM. To rule out any other issues first though, please set up a portable Citra version and run your game on there:
Go to Download Citra - Citra and select Manual download. Then under Nightly Build, click on your operating system’s icon to the right of the latest build available to download the build.
Extract it (.7z can be extracted using Winrar or 7zip) (.tar.gz can be extracted natively on MacOS) and put it where ever you wish. Inside the extracted mingw folder, create a folder called user. This Citra should now store all of its config, save files and such inside of this user folder.
Check to make sure that this user folder is in the same folder that contains citra-qt(.exe)
Now run the citra-qt executable found inside of the mingw folder.

If you run into the same issue, please upload another log file using this portable Citra version.

Crashed again on portable build after about 30 minutes… Still had to sift through all that same code.

I can see the same nand folder errors. Unless you copied your regular nand folder over, you didn’t follow my steps correctly. Make sure to create a new portable Citra build to rule out any issues with the standard Citra build that you’re using.

Oh my bad. nand has something to do with Citra home folder which is used to make the Mii models show up correctly. I’ll try a build that won’t use that.

^ please just use the instructions I gave you to set up the test build. Otherwise I don’t know what variables you’re adding to the testing.

Alright. I’m still getting thousands of vertex shader errors, but this log was completely close to vanilla as I could get it. Ran the game for about 15 minutes.
