Pokemon Ultra Moon Save File not found

#1

Hello,

Basically I’m facing an issue with the save location of my Pokemon Ultra Moon Rom.
I want to be able to backup my save file in case something happens to my version of Citra or my Laptop yet all my research shows methods that I cannot use since i cannot find any “User” Folder in my Citra folder.

In order to play the game, I open Citra and drag-and-drop the ROM that is located on my desktop. When I save in-game, I can continue from where I left off, But when I open Citra I cannot locate the game from there, I have always just been dragging ang dropping the ROM in order to continue playing.

Please let me know is there is anything I can do in order to locate and backup my save file.

Thanks in advace!

In order for us to provide better support, we need to see the log generated by Citra. This guide will walk you through how you can obtain the log file: How to Upload the Log File.

As shown on the UI, double click on it, a folder dialog will pop up, just point to where your rom is located:

After that your games will appear in the list, right click on it and choose ‘Open Save Data Location’.
that will open your save file folder. but its safer to backup your whole save folder. if you look at your save data directory you will see something like:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Citra\sdmc\Nintendo 3DS\00000000000000000000000000000000\00000000000000000000000000000000\title\00040000\000XXXX0\data\0000000X

All games save data are folders inside the folder 00040000, since you open your save location, the 000XXXX0 is your save data.

Will doing that affect my current save data ?

I am asking this as I have already 109+ hours of gameplay and would not want to risk anything. Sorry if this is a stupid question but I would rather not risk anything like resetting my save. Thank you

doing that will just copy your save data. if you want, you can just open that folder by going directly into:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Citra\sdmc\Nintendo 3DS\00000000000000000000000000000000\00000000000000000000000000000000\title\00040000\
just look for a folder with the game titleid, UM is 0001B5100

Thank you so much, This is really helpful!

Now that I have located everything, Could you just please let me know what I should copy and past onto my pen-drive in order to backup my save for future reference ?

Should I copy the entire folder called 0000000 ?

Thank you in advance!

This is my Directory:

C:\Users%username%\AppData\Roaming\Citra\sdmc\Nintendo 3DS\00000000000000000000000000000000\00000000000000000000000000000000\title\00040000\001b5100\data\00000001

Should I copy “sdmc” or something else ?

what I should copy and past onto my pen-drive in order to backup my save

in this directory you should copy 001b5100.

Note that not every single game has its save data on 00040000, some games saves are on the extra data (e.g: Monster Hunter X)
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Citra\sdmc\Nintendo 3DS\00000000000000000000000000000000\00000000000000000000000000000000\extdata\00000000

if you want to backup any potential save, backup both extdata and title folders on:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Citra\sdmc\Nintendo 3DS\00000000000000000000000000000000\00000000000000000000000000000000\

if you want to be ‘paranoid’ safe, just copy the entire citra folder on:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming
