Pokemon X and Y Crash After Start

Issue:
When starting up Pokemon X and Y the frames drop and Citra crashes once I hit the Start button at the end of the cutscene. I have tried most of the common fixes and have had no success.

Here’s some issues I found with your log that might help.

  • You are running out of date drivers for your GPU. You need to install the most recent driver for your graphics card from Intel’s website. Support for Intel® Graphics

When checking my drivers it says there is no updated needed??

GPU Driver Version: 23.20.16.4905

This driver is outdated(from 2018), you need to update

Download win64_25.20.100.6373.zip from: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/28289/a08/win64_25.20.100.6373.zip

then follow this guide to install it: https://www.howtogeek.com/343287/how-to-fix-the-driver-being-installed-is-not-validated-for-this-computer-on-intel-computers/

Make sure Windows 10 is up to date, then download and install Intel® Graphics – Windows* DCH Drivers from: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/124967/intel-core-i58250u-processor-6m-cache-up-to-3-40-ghz/downloads.html

im running windows 11. do they have updates that will work on 11?

It should still work. Strange that you are on such an old version for the GPU driver on Windows 11.

I was able to update the driver, the game isnt crashing citra anymore but i am still unable to get passed a black screen aster selecting start

Upload a new log please.

tywald thank you for your help!! it worked i just forgot to download the second driver

Updating to Windows 11 doesn’t actually update your driver. Only when installing Windows 11 from scratch (same as with installing Windows 10 from scratch), does it actually give you the latest “stable” driver.

I did those steps but it still isn’t working here is my log

Make sure Windows is updated before you try install the latest driver. You should be on 21H2 or later. You can check what you currently have if you open winver (just type that in Windows search near the Start button). Go to Windows Update and see if you can get the latest there. Then you can redo the steps above.
