[Resolved] Xenoblade Chronicles 3D can't target enemies or activate combat mode

Issue:
When starting a new file in Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, the moment the actual gameplay starts, the game tells you to use “L” or “R” to target enemies, but nothing happens. If I go over to the Mechons, they will attack, the combat interface will appear, and one will even be targeted, but the controls will not change to combat mode, and the characters will not retaliate or react in any way other than going “AARGH!” when taking damage. The lower screen shows camera control prompts, but nothing about combat.

EDIT: Heroes of Ruin and Ridge Racer 3D rely on “L” and “R”, and it works just fine there. In XBC 3D, the controls just don’t change to combat mode, so everything except the camera controls become completely unresponsive.

EDIT 2, UPDATE: Moon Chronicles behaves as though the “L” and “R” buttons are being held down.

EDIT 3, SOLUTION: “ZL” and “ZR” were set by the auto-mapper to “Axis 2-” and “Axis 5-” instead of “Axis 2+” and “Axis 5+”, respectively.
Manual trigger mapping reconfiguration has resulted in expected behavior, issue resolved.

Make sure to use the buttons that are mapped to “L” and “R” in Citra’s Controls menu (Emulation>Configuration>Controls).

Not the issue, Heroes of Ruin and Ridge Racer 3D rely on “L” and “R”, and it works just fine there. In XBC 3D, the controls just don’t change to combat mode, so everything except the camera controls become completely unresponsive.
…I should have included this to begin with.
