Running Citra on a Macbook Pro 2017

Issue: Games running too slow
I’m not sure this is because of my settings or because of a (possibly) bad graphic card. I’m trying to run Pokemon Ultra Moon and it’s sort of slow, around 20 fps on the lowest possible resolution in some sections of the game. Inside homes and in battles the speed is great, but out that it’s not.

System Information

  • Operating System: macOS High Sierra
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 3,1 GHz / 8GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
  • GPU: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 1536 MB
  • Citra Version (found in title bar): Nightly 650 (Canary is simply too slow - 10fps)
  • Game: Pokemon Ultra Moon

Log: Not sure how to do it on Mac =/

The OpenGL support on Mac OS is archaic. Have you ran any other games? How do they fare?

I actually haven’t since Pokemon is my only interest with a 3DS emulator.

Not sure how Canary is slow for you. If you have Shader Emulation turned on, then you’ll get a performance boost though I think it might have issues with some Intel GPUs.

What are the correct preferences for the Canary build ?

What I meant to say is Shader Emulation set to GPU. If it crashes then you’ll have to use CPU or stick with Nightly for now.
