Set analog stick button. How does ist work?

I wanted to set my controller with analog joysticks, but when i try the “set analog stick” button it says that i have to move my stick first horizontally then vertical, but i dont know how. When i move my stick left/right and up/down is stops maping and its not working. What am i supposed to do?
