Tomodachi Life running very slowly on mid/high tier chipset

Issue:
So basically I enter Tomodachi Life, and the first thing is that it dips bellow 5 FPS, then even in idle it outputs 15-20fps, then loading screens take a minute or two… Happens in animal crossing sometimes as well. It never even reaches 30 FPS, always lower than 28, I’ve seen phones (mi 8 lite) run better(literally this phones great-grandpa!). Actually, scrap that, every game on the emulator doesn’t even reach 29fps, I think that my original 3ds would play new 3ds games better than my phone…

In order for us to provide better support, we need to see the log generated by citra. This guide will walk you through how you can obtain the log file: How to Upload the Log File

Your hardware shouldn’t be the issue. Could you try the latest Citra Canary APK?

Releases · citra-emu/citra-canary · GitHub

See if the same issue occurs there. If it does, upload a new log file.

Same issues :disappointed:

The log file is incomplete. Please follow these steps carefully:

  1. Restart the Citra app if it’s already running.
  2. Launch your game and encounter the problem.
  3. Shut down the Citra app (do not restart Citra as that will wipe the log file of important information!).
  4. Navigate to Internal Storage/citra-emu/log and upload the citra_log.txt file in this chat.

Hmmm, try disabling Accurate Multiplication in the graphics settings. See if that has a big impact on performance or not.

Didn’t work the best

Maybe a CPU governor related issue. It might be useful to try one of the work in progress Vulkan .apk builds. Those tend to make the phone’s CPU governor behave differently. You can find instructions on how to set up one of the WIP vulkan builds on the Citra Discord server’s vulkan-testing channel’s pinned comments.
